Cultivating Champions: Summer Sports Camp

From July 16th to August 16th, the Sports Department held a comprehensive Summer Sports Camp for students of Senior, Prep, and Junior Schools. A wide range of sports was offered, including Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Squash, Swimming, Riding, Tennis, and Rugby.

More than 300 students enthusiastically participated in the camp, demonstrating their passion and dedication. National and local coaches of Cricket, Football, and Swimming trained the boys. Their tireless efforts and expertise helped our students in overall fitness, stamina, endurance, muscle strength, and techniques. Many participants are expected to represent Aitchison in the college teams. The camp will help improve their skills and fitness levels. Morning sessions focused on all sports, while Football and Cricket sessions were held exclusively in the evening to maximise time and facilities. Such camps are the breeding ground for future champions.

None of this would have been possible without the superb organisation of the Sports Management team. Our sincere thanks also go to the Principal, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, and the Bursar for their unwavering support.

From Lahore to Beijing: A Journey of AI Olympiad Glory

Earlier this year, Aitchison College gained accreditation from the International Board for the International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). It designates the college as the national selection body for the Olympiad, positioning it as the only institution in Pakistan to win this unique honour.

The International Science Olympiads (ISO) are a series of annual global competitions in various fields of the formal sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences. The competitions are intended for the 4-6 top high school students from each participating country. The goals of each ISO are to promote careers in science and to challenge the brightest students worldwide. The International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) is an international science Olympiad specialising in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Aitchison hosted the Pakistan Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence (POAI) in March 2025 as the national selection process, which assessed students’ knowledge of AI topics such as computer vision. The four highest-scoring students from POAI were chosen, all from different schools and participated in four training camps in the months leading up to the Olympiad. These camps, co-hosted with Skills2Success, offered training in natural language processing, deep learning, computer vision, and machine learning.

From 2nd to 9th August 2025, IOAI was held in Beijing, China. Under the able guidance of Deputy Headmaster, Senior School, Dr. Muhammad Kamran, the four-member team represented Pakistan, facing elite competitors from over sixty countries and territories. The students competed in a two-day gruelling individual contest, solving six difficult AI problems.

The only Aitchisonian in Team Pakistan, Ayan Bin Rafaih, received an “Honourable Mention” — the first time in Pakistan’s history — and was also the highest scorer from the national team at IOAI. This marks the first time since 2015, over ten years ago, that an Aitchisonian has won at an ISO. We extend our heartiest congratulations to Ayan and the teaching staff with the optimism that they will achieve more in their future endeavours at IOAI 2026.

Tryst with History: Independence Day Celebrations at Aitchison

On August 14, 2025, Aitchison celebrated Independence Day with unwavering enthusiasm and zeal. This

the prefects were in attendance to honour the national legacy. In his address, the Principal reflected on
Pakistan’s remarkable journey, emphasising the importance of quality education and accessible
healthcare for all. He highlighted the country’s immense potential: fertile lands, abundant natural
resources, strategic trade routes, and a dynamic youth population. This positions Pakistan as a key
player on the global stage.
Such celebrations not only rekindle patriotism but also reinforce Aitchison’s commitment to nurturing
future leaders who will carry forward the nation’s ideals in the days to come.

Space: The Final Frontier - A Historic Leap in Aerospace Innovation

In the summer of 2024, the Aitchison College Science Society (ACSS) made history by becoming the first high school-level organisation in Pakistan to launch a rocket successfully. This remarkable accomplishment underscored the society’s unwavering commitment to research and hands-on engineering, marking a major milestone in student-led aerospace innovation.

Building on this success, ACSS went on to launch Class E/F rockets and continued its relentless pursuit of developing a Level 2 high-powered rocket engine. Then, in a historic moment for Pakistan, on 7th  August 2025 at 1547 HRS, the Aitchison College Rocketry Team (ACRT) successfully tested the Delta 5 engine.

In a groundbreaking feat, the engine generated an impressive 40 kg of thrust for up to 4 seconds, achieving a gas exit velocity of Mach 2.5, making it the most powerful rocket engine ever developed by a non-military organisation in Pakistan. This milestone set the first national record in amateur rocketry, now held by Aitchison College.

Leading this pioneering effort, the Aitchison College Science Society remains the vanguard of aerospace research, driven by precision engineering, rigorous simulations, and advanced propulsion techniques. Through these innovations, ACSS continues to push the boundaries of student-led rocketry and aerospace exploration in Pakistan. All appreciation to our teachers and students, who achieved this remarkable feat.
