Visit of Alliance FranÃ§aise Delegation to the Prep School

The Prep School, Aitchison College was honoured to receive a special delegation representing Alliance Française. The delegation included Mr. Fabrice Disdier, the Director and Ms. Madeeha Amjad, the Head of Pedagogy. The visit was dedicated to fostering closer relations with Aitchison College and the promotion of French language education across the country. With three hundred and fifty-four students actively learning French as a foreign language, the Prep School provides a vibrant environment for French linguistic and cultural exchange. The visitors met the Principal of the college, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, and the Headmaster of the Prep School, Raja Ashfaq Ahmad. They discussed the French programme and also shared insights into expanding opportunities for our students to deepen their understanding of the French language and culture, including potential collaborations with the French Embassy. This visit reflects our school’s ongoing commitment to international education, opening new doors for our students to explore the world through language and cultural diversity. We are excited about the possibilities this connection will bring for future learning experiences.

A Convincing Win in Hockey

On 11^th October 2024, the Preparatory School Hockey Colts registered a compelling win over The Smart School. Our students demonstrated better sporting finesse and combined effort and they came out winning the match with a margin of 5-0.

David Gower: Elegance Exemplified

David Gower, one of England's most elegant left-handed batsmen, visited Aitchison College on October 13, 2024. Mr. Savail Hussain, Mr. Hasan Qureshi, and other dignitaries were with him. The principal, Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain, welcomed them and showed them around. David Gower, as we all know scored 8,231 Test runs at an average of 44.25. He also scored 3,170 runs in ODIs. A very successful England Captain and commentator. He was one of England's most capped and high-scoring players during his period, and only Jack Hobbs made more runs against Australia than Gower's 3,269. He was a part of the English squad, which finished as runners-up at the 1979 Cricket World Cup. The guests marvelled at the sporting facilities, lush green grounds, and the well-kept campus of the college.

Clubs Activities at the Junior School

On Saturday, 12^th October 2024, the Junior School successfully held its club and Co-Curricular activity sessions, with full participation from our learners. Attractive easels were set up to guide students to the designated venues where they honed their natural talent. Excitement was evident as they eagerly engaged themselves in the planned activities. These clubs have had a profound impact on enhancing learners’ engagement and skill development. Practical abilities such as public speaking, cooking, and creative writing are cultivated through hands-on experiences, while service-oriented clubs like SPARK and Sunshine foster empathy and social responsibility. Robostars, animation and filmmaking nurture creativity and digital literacy, while Super Inventors and Actors’ Arena encourage problem-solving and communication through interactive learning. These initiatives foster academic and personal growth and equip our learners with real-life skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

The Preparatory School students undertook a study tour of the Government College of Technology for Glass and Ceramics, Shahdara, Lahore. Our students learnt about technical education in ceramics and coctile articles. They had hands-on experience with ceramics, from raw materials to creating finished products. It helped them see how subjects like art and chemistry apply in real life. Students also learned about the cultural importance of ceramics, sustainable practices, and the value of teamwork through collaborative projects.

Aitchison College, Inter-School Junior Football Championship, 2024

Aitchison College, the Junior School held its 3^rd Junior Football Championship 2024, in which sixty of our talented boys showcased their soccer skills. These students were divided into four competitive teams. Eight teams participated in the tournament, including teams from other schools. The Aitchison College Junior Green Team and City School Ravi Campus contested the action-packed final. Aitchisonians registered a decisive 3-0 victory to retain the championship title. City School Ravi Campus secured second place, while Pak-Turk School finished third. Message Grammar School was adjudged as the Best Disciplined Team of the tournament. Assad Muneer of the Aitchison College Green Team emerged as the top scorer and received the coveted Golden Boot Award, Shafay Iqbal was declared the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament for his outstanding performance throughout.

Colts Complete Clean Sweep against Crescent School

The Prep School Colts teams performed remarkably well in their annual fixture against Crescent Model Higher Secondary School Lahore. They won all five games across various sports: athletics, basketball, cricket, football, and hockey. Their dominance was evident, as they outplayed Crescent School in all departments, endorsing their superior skill and teamwork. Profound congratulations to the Sports Department and all the players.

Our Colts Whitewash Sadiqians in Sports

The Prep School played the Annual Sports Fixture against Sadiq Public School from October 1^st to October 4^th October 2024. It was a home event. Our Colts swept the board by winning all games on their way to the thumping triumph. Here are the results:

Athletics: Aitchison College won the Athletics by 63-47 points.
Basketball: Aitchison College emerged victorious in the match by a score of 30-15.
Cricket: Batted first Aitchison College scored 159 runs after losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Sadiq Public School were all out for 100 runs in 19 overs. Aitchison College won the match by 59 runs. Sufiyan Siraj was the top scorer with 104* runs, not out.
Football: Aitchison College came away winning the match by 4-0.
Hockey: Aitchison College won the match by 12-0. Muhammad Zunair scored 04 goals and Rana Sami netted 03.

On the Waves of Success - Swimming Gala 2024

The Junior School held its Swimming Gala on Friday, 4^th October 2024, with great enthusiasm and fanfare. The event commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, Mr. Aftab Arshad, a former Aitchisonian and champion swimmer in the 1980s. Our young participants exhibited their talent through various swimming strokes, creating a thrilling atmosphere. At the end of the event, the Principal, Dr S.M. Turab Hussain and the chief guest distributed medals and trophies to the winners. They lauded the efforts of our swimmers. The pool's blue water, colourful balloons, and background music by the school choir enhanced the event’s ambience. The parents’ applause and support added colours to the celebration, making it a memorable day.

Final of the Inter-House Basketball: Godley House vs K & N's House

It was an evenly contested final with each team fiercely fighting to achieve the ultimate glory. In the end, the Godley House emerged victorious. All kudos to the players of both teams who demonstrated undying resolve, grit, determination and fighting spirit throughout. The final score:

Honouring the Prodigies of Shirazi House

On 2^nd October 2024, Shirazi House hosted a formal dinner uniting resident faculty members and distinguished guests. The worthy Principal, the Bursar, the Headmistress Senior School, and notable alumni were in attendance. This event gave our students a unique opportunity to engage with influential figures in various fields. As guests arrived, they were warmly welcomed into the House's elegantly decorated dining hall, fostering an atmosphere for meaningful dialogue. Each guest was seated with a group of talented prodigies, encouraging lively discussions on topics ranging from academics to personal growth, and offering valuable insights and motivation. Shirazi House is an emerging boarding house with promising young gentlemen full of talent and potential. The evening was wrapped up with a sincere toast highlighting the vibrant spirit of these young minds, who engaged passionately with the distinguished guests, demonstrating their eagerness to learn and grow in days to come.

Screening of Emmy Award-winning Documentary: Journey of the Universe

On 1^st October 2024, Aitchison College hosted a screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary Journey of the Universe, attended by forty boys. They had the unique opportunity to engage with Professor John Allen Grim, a Yale School of Environment professor and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in religion and ecology.

The session began with a foreword by Professor Grim, who spoke about the film’s production and its conceptual development while addressing key segments of the narrative. He later engaged with the students in a lively Q&A session, answering questions ranging from Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to the multiverse theory. Prof. Grim’s enthusiasm was evident as he thoughtfully responded to each question, highlighting the relevance of both science and religion in tackling global challenges. He expressed deep admiration for Aitchison College, sharing his interest in visiting Lahore and the institution in the coming months to continue the dialogue on climate action and the role of religion in fostering environmental stewardship
