In the Love of Literature
“Literature is a mountain made of gold in this poor world!” - Mehmet Murat Ildan.
Aitchison College, the Preparatory School, hosted its eagerly awaited Annual English Language and Literature Festival on October 12, 2024. It attracted participants from thirty-six of the best schools across the Punjab. This festival featured engaging categories designed to showcase the talents of budding writers and speakers. In Scrabble, participants tested their vocabulary skills and strategic thinking. Poetry Writing invited promising poets to express their high-flown thoughts and emotions through verses, while Persuasive Writing challenged students to craft compelling arguments on topics close to their hearts. Interpretive Reading allowed participants to bring literature to life, demonstrating their skills through expressions and interpretation. Finally, the Prep Talk segment encouraged students to share their insights and ideas, fostering a spirit of public speaking and confidence.
An esteemed panel of judges adjudicated the event, many of them were old Aitchisonians. They are:
- Muhammad Abdur Rehman-Bin-Umar - an aspiring dentist.
- Muhammad Murtaza - Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister of Punjab.
- Adeel Zafar - Associate Dean of Executive Education.
- Mumariz Salik Naqshband - Associate Professor at the King Edward Medical University and Head of Sports Surgery.
- Muhammad Rayyan Ijaz - pursuing Computer Sciences at UMT.
- Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Pansota - Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan
- Imran Mukhtar Chaudhry – Runs his own company.
- Muhammad Tariq – A senior English teacher at the Senior School, Aitchison College.
- Ahmed Hassan - Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan.
- Ms. Huda Imtiaz - A Teaching Fellow at LUM.
- Ms. Aneela Salman – Teacher Senior School.
The schools securing first positions are:

- Pak Turk, Marif Asifa Irfan Campus, Interpretive Reading
- Beaconhouse Defence, Poetry Competition
- City School Muslim Town, Prep Talk
- The Scrabble Competition:
- In Grade Seven, it was won by LACAS, JT Boys
- In Grade Eight, it was claimed by Bloomfield Hall
- In Grade Nine, it was triumphed by City School Model Town
Throughout the festival, innovative and fresh voices with new perspectives resonated. The young students learned not to be afraid to ask questions and share their subjective insights through various literary genres.
The Department of English and our students deserve special admiration for holding such a wonderful show.
